Ten years ago, educators Danielle Santos and Karla Righetto joined forces to build a differentiated school, where children are the center of the pedagogical process, with a modern curriculum that is consistent and respectful of the stages of child development.

In 2014, Escola Infanzia opened its doors in Santa Rosa, in a building specially designed and planned for children, a space that invites them to think, investigate and live together. Years later, the building was expanded to receive Elementary School students.

The name Infanzia – childhood in Italian – strongly brings the proposal of valuing children and recognizing their citizenship from birth. In our school, the child is not seen as a project of the future, but as a citizen with rights and duties, capable of thinking, creating, arguing and expressing themselves.

Mother of Giulia and Felipe, Danielle has a degree in Dentistry, a postgraduate degree in Oral Rehabilitation from PUC-RJ, but left the practice when she became a mother and fell in love with education. She studied Business, learned about cutting-edge pedagogical approaches in Reggio Emilia, Buenos Aires and São Paulo, and became a founding partner of Escola Infanzia. Danielle loves holding children in her arms and it’s not uncommon to see her walking around the school, interacting with the little ones.

Mother of Roberta, Karla has a degree in Pedagogy, a Master’s in Education at UFF and a PhD in Education at UFRJ. She has articles and book chapters published, referring to the discussion of childhood. Founding partner of Escola Infanzia, Karla visited schools in Italy and Latin America (Peru, Argentina, Colombia) to think and bring a philosophy connected with other countries and cultures. An avid reader and cycling athlete, she is known for her wide smile.
