Exploring the Universe of Lines: The “Line as Language” Project at Infanzia

Each year, we embark on a journey of discovery and exploration, delving into the richness of nature and art with Infanzia students. This year, our attention is directed to lines, those traits that delineate physical and imaginary representations and that permeate our entire world.

The lines have their own language, and our goal is to discover it together with the children. Establishing connections between the act of observing, creating, writing and producing, we will delve into understanding how lines shape our perception and interpretation of the world around us.

Our focus is not limited to superficial observation, but rather the appreciation of visual nuances and the complexity of lines in human experience. To this end, we invite children to sharpen their senses – sight, touch, smell, taste and hearing – exploring the elements of nature and works of art as starting points for individual and collective expressions.

We value the uniqueness of childhood and recognize that, through artistic movements, children are capable of revealing surprising insights during their creative processes. Our project does not just seek tangible results, but rather the personal and collective enrichment that arises from the artistic journey.

By stimulating creativity and promoting an aesthetically rich environment, our project goes beyond the conventional, inspiring restlessness, curiosity and resilience in the face of challenges. We seek to expand not only academic knowledge, but also the social, emotional and ethical skills of our students.

In translating lines into art, we find inspiration in Land Art, a movement that uses the natural environment as a canvas. Artists such as Kandinsky, Mondrian, Miró, Ernesto Neto and Chiharu Shiota, as well as traditions such as indigenous graphics and embroidery from the Northeast, are our references, enriching our artistic repertoire.

Our journey is a seam of experiences and knowledge, highlighting the transformative power of education that values learning through play, imagination and creative expression. We are committed to providing our students with a space where they can be protagonists of their own learning, dialoguing, thinking and creating in harmony.

The “Line as Language” Project is more than a simple educational program – it is a celebration of the beauty of artistic expression and the exploration of collective spaces, both inside and outside the school walls. We look forward to sharing this journey with our students, celebrating together the wonders of line in all its forms and manifestations.
