What school do we want for our children?

At this time of year, many families come to us to get to know Infanzia. Families who are researching schools for the first time, families who want to change institutions, families who are still in doubt whether or not to change schools. In a city where the options of private schools offering Early Childhood and Elementary Education have grown over the last few years, the choice for families becomes a huge question.

What makes one school different from another? Without marketing and advertising moves, I think families should be clear about what they want when looking for a school.

What is the family’s expectation when looking for a school? Which is closest to home? Which offers the best price in the neighborhood? That meets the contemporary demands of specific days and times, different from a school routine? That offers more than one language? That affirms the religion chosen by the parents? That has space? That has many students? That it has qualified professionals and invests in teacher training? Why worry about the nutrition of children and teenagers? That guarantees the academic excellence of its students?

In a world in constant transformation, knowing the reason for an institution’s existence is fundamental. In addition to the building, facilities and political pedagogical project of each institution, it is essential to know the vision of education of an institution’s leaders and supporters. Mission, vision and values guide a school’s actions.

When we become parents, we make a commitment to create an individual who will carry our heritage into the world – not just the genetic load, but also, and most importantly, our values and culture. But how do we know if we’re getting it right with our children?

The choice of school must be linked to the reflection of which children we want to raise for the world

In a reality in which children and young people spend more and more time at school, linking not only the concern with acquiring content, but also what values and future projects they are learning in the collective space is also a point for choosing the institution. “No one builds values without practicing them. Speech and sermon alone are not enough. Furthermore, the stance of the reference adult must be in accordance with what is defended”, highlights Minas Gerais educator Flávia Vivaldi.

At Infanzia our values are clear and are part of our daily lives – in everyday actions and projects. In the interaction between babies/children and adults, the attitudes of being responsible, thinking and acting autonomously, putting oneself in the other person’s shoes and knowing how to deal with one’s own emotions are part of our pillars.

The 4 pillars of Escola Infanzia

Academic Excellence

We are demanding educators and encourage our students to strive for excellence. Our teaching is contextualized, allowing children to connect what they study with what they experience. At our school, students learn from science, art, literature and cultural experiences.

Relationship and care

We educate with affection. We build relationships. We provide daily reception for children and families. We follow with admiration and honor the growth of our students, from nursery to elementary school. We know your son by name. We guide families on individual and collective issues.

Socio-emotional education

We know that having academic knowledge is not enough to achieve personal and professional success. We develop the emotional intelligence and skills necessary to face the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Global citizenship

We educate in community, ethics and respect. We form responsible and conscious citizens, capable of making a difference in their lives and in the world. As we live in a globalized environment, our students master the universal English language.

And you, have you thought about the school you want for your child?
